Well it seems like just yesterday I was waiting for the kids to get off the bus on their last day. Now we are already back in school and only a couple of weeks left of September. Where does the time go? However, we did have a pretty good summer, we were able to plant some things in our garden and actually get a few raspberries from our plants so that was good! The above picture is the petunias that we got from Hoffman's Greenhouse. Below I will share some pictures of the few things that came up in the garden.
Wanted to share a few photos of the family. A week ago we went to the Dells of Eue Claire. It was very pretty, I think this is going to be one of the places we go during the fall season, I imagine the colors are breathtaking!
Garden update: These wild cacti that we found are growing by leaps and bounds, which is good because the poor indoor garden has been a bit neglected after getting the R.V.
A few samples of my wood burning practice boards, I love doing this but forgot how out of practice I am. Good thing I bought a couple packages of these little round boards!
Great news! I am in the craft fair, so I guess I better stay busy making more diffuser necklaces, backpack tags, car fresheners and more.

A friend of mine purchased this one picking out the colors and I also added extra string just in case she would like it longer. The ones up above do not have the fastener on them they are just tied. I thought I'd only make a few with fasteners or if someone wanted them then I can always add them!

Garden update! The other day my husband brought home this unique terrarium!! Right now it is housing our parsley plant and looks like it's pretty happy with it's new home. Other things are starting to pop up so that is a good thing and hopefully I will have updated pictures of those later!

A little bit of garden and shabby chic update here, this is the pot that I painted and the winter-berry plant not looking the best but also not looking the worst, it has been improving and I hope that it stays that way! One more coat of paint should do it!

Another little shabby chic update, the bird house chimes are all done! Now I just have to find a place to put them! Can't wait for spring to come so I can get outdoors and find just the right spot for these little cuties!
A quick update on our little chicks, this one here is posing for the camera! Unfortunately we lost one which is always a sad thing. They have now moved in to their larger home and will stay in this one until there new coop is ready and it's warmer outside.
This larger aquarium gives them the option to be right under the heat lamp or to cool down on the other side. Also being that it is much larger they have a little more room to move around!

We have found that as a family we are really enjoying playing the game Clue. So each of us decided to paint little clipboards to hold our game sheets and cards.

Of course I had to shabby chic mine! My son and daughter both did one and we also painted one for dad! I was pleasantly surprised how much my kids enjoyed playing Clue!

Not forgetting about my oils! Not only did I make 6 bars of soap (which I forgot to take a picture of) I also made some more clay necklace/charm diffusers. Hopefully soon I will learn some new knotting techniques so I can get these all finished.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16980550742380507540noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2356307041294124001.post-80232625529987532682017-03-22T15:19:00.002-07:002017-03-22T15:19:49.105-07:00

Finally done with the Faith magnet and it actually sticks to the fridge! I added a little rose to the "i" so its more shabby chic! It's the little things in life that can make a person happy!

A few more shabby chic objects that I have almost done. I was able to add some roses to the cross as well and as you will see in the next picture I also added some decorations to the birdhouses!

Hopefully these flowers will stay on the birdhouses! Tomorrow I will add the string and hopefully be all done with these little crafts!
The indoor garden received a much needed overhaul today! Things were just not doing very well so had to replant some different things and realized between myself and my son we were drowning the poor plants. We talked about the need to communicate our watering schedule. Hopefully I transplanted them in time and they will still make it! However, some of the little seeds just could not take all the water so I had to take them out. They took one for the team. :(
Introducing the new additions, our five little chics is their fluffy cuteness! Now we really need to settle on the kind of coop we are going to have this year! So much fun stuff to think about!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16980550742380507540noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2356307041294124001.post-49828707756558182772017-03-20T14:33:00.003-07:002017-03-20T14:33:45.985-07:00

A little shabby chic find that I purchased at Goodwill over the weekend! Looks simply amazing on the buffet in the dining room! I've always loved these and someday maybe will get a life size one but until then this adorable little mini replica will do just fine!
You have to look very hard and maybe even use the zoom in button but there are little buds in the strawberry greenhouse! So excited, I was starting to get a little down because other plants do not seem to be doing so well, but this was a little sign that all is well and keep on trying! Hopefully this week with the kids being home on spring break we will be able to give the indoor garden a much needed overhaul!
For the first time in about three years our weird and wild cactus has little blooms on it! We were really surprised this poor thing has been replanted and moved so many times we really thought it was dead.

However, it had other plans, and we are starting to see these little blooms all over the cactus! Not even really sure what it is. We were out for one of our family walks years back and found it we thought it was so interesting we dug it up and brought it home, and now it continues to surprise us!

I'm going a little shabby chic crazy with this paint! I just love the results! The colors are so pretty and just the color scheme that I love! I added the color Ivory today and was pleased with it's results on some of the pieces, I have more wooden jars for my sister to stamp, some flowers, bird houses, and of course the large jar and terracotta planter both received their second coats of paint. The cross is also a new addition and there is one flower that is not the shabby chic color but someone I know loves daisies so I think she is getting that one!
A couple shabby chic updates the mug is all finished and I added some flowers to the front. This will find a spot right in the living room by the lamp, really enjoying these shabby chic colors good thing I purchased small bottles or I may have painted everything! Hopefully tomorrow I will have the little birdhouse all finished up!
The little wooden jars are almost complete, just have to add some magnets to the back and they will be as good as done! Can't wait to teach a class so I can give these out for gifts!
Another oily project, I started making some pendant diffusers, car diffusers also some beads and accent pieces. So for these to work all you have to do is choose essential oils that you would like add a drop to the piece and you are good to go! Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get out and get the leather cords and fasteners so these will be complete before the weekend!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16980550742380507540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2356307041294124001.post-65889402010811718752017-03-15T12:45:00.001-07:002017-03-15T12:45:26.573-07:00

The indoor garden is just booming! The radishes are loving their new home, and as you can see in the picture they are reaching for that artificial sunlight! Not sure whats happening with the seed starter kit behind the radishes though, nothing seems to be popping up yet. I think I will give it another week or two and then go with something new! Can't be holding up the space if nothing is going to grow!!

A little shabby chic update, I put the last coat of paint on the large jar on the right and the mug, also the Faith sign and wooden bottles received their last coat of paint. Then I went a little painting crazy I started another large jar, that is on the left and has it's first coat of paint.

Then I found an old terracotta planter and thought this needs an update, and also started on the bird house. So much fun turning everything shabby chic!

I also am proud to say that I found the goats milk soap kit and molds at Michael's yesterday and this morning I was able to cut them and prepare to make my fist batch of soap!

This kit made it so easy, all you have to do is cut the desired amount put it in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir and put it back in the microwave for 10 more seconds, repeating this until it's completely melted then add your choice of essential oils, I went with my doTerra Lavender for a nice calming bar. Then pour the mixture in to the mold and wait for 40 minutes or if you are like me until you have become so busy doing other stuff you forgot about it and once you remember carefully pop the soap out of the mold.

Here are the finished products! Four bars of goat milk, lavender soap. I can't wait to give these as gifts or prizes at the next doTerra class!

Presentation is everything right? I had fun looking through some of my craft drawers to find something that would look nice, fresh, and springy. I think they turned out pretty cute!
So here is the little shutter in all it's glory! I found some awesome shabby chic accessories to add, I think this will work well when showcasing the oil of the month. What a busy Monday! I started out with a chiropractic appointment then went to Walmart for a few things and look what just popped in my cart this adorable little crate and two rainbow cacti! They were so dry and their roots were just bursting out of the little cup they were in. These are not the only little guys that were rescued today.
Look at this beauty! She was also extremely dry and very overgrown so now she was treated to a new pot and more soil! Room to grow! I was walking down the garden isle and found something else as well!
I found these adorable little kits, one is a purple cone-flower and the other is a daisy! The picture above shows the pellets absorbing the water only 1 tablespoon was needed.
I forgot just how much I love the feel of doTerra's Reveal Facial System, and honestly I needed that. I have been packing for our weekend getaway and didn't realize how much that would take out of me so I was trying to think of a way to boost my energy and look what I "Revealed" 🙂 It honestly feels like I just washed away wrinkles! A refreshing citrus smell awakens the senses and afterward leaves your skin feeling like silk!

A busy day around the home-front. After the chiropractor appointment I stopped by our co-op store to pick up a few items. I was so excited when the gal checking me out mentioned they are going to be starting a work/membership. If you can volunteer there for about 3 hours a week you will be qualified for their membership which will also include 25% off! After that I stopped by the Dollar Tree to pick up a few containers and was very pleasantly surprised at the art isle, nice deals! So finally got home and put a second coat on my crafts!

These are little Mason jars and I am hoping to use them as garden makers. I will have to put some kind of weather protecting coat on them before that. The other idea that I had was to paint them more like my doTerra oil bottles and use them as magnets to give away at one of my classes. Yes I said classes, I have decided my teaching days can not be over. However, the age of my students might vary, and I will be teaching about something that I really love, use, and want to share with others!

My little shutter received a second coat of paint and today at the dollar tree I was able to pick up some adorable mini clothes pins. this will go lovely together. I am hoping to use this as part of my oil presentation for on line and in class, Hopefully I will be able to display some pictures and recipes!
A little view of the one planting table from the indoor garden. As you can see I am really running out of room. However, I will squeeze as much as I can in every inch because I LOVE planting!

I do not normally do very well in the kitchen department, but today I decided it was time to give it a whirl. The above picture shows a pumpkin/cranberry/nut cake with a hint of lemon! That's one of the many reasons I love doTerra oils because you can digest them!

It took a very long time but here is the almost finished product. The last step is to add the pumpkin glaze which needs to be done once it cools. Of course I did not have the patience to wait that long because I have a duty to my loyal blog followers to get a blog out!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16980550742380507540noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2356307041294124001.post-78333431566343499822017-03-08T13:55:00.002-08:002017-03-08T13:55:55.901-08:00

A quick update for the shabby chic crafts. The little shutter and Mason jar have their first coat on them. The green is named celery and the pink is called ballet slipper! Hopefully tomorrow they will get their second coat!

So excited this weekend we found a wonderful deal at Menard's! We had to go there in order to fix our bathroom fan that was broken and of course as long as we were there I had to check out the gardening isle and boy oh boy am I glad I did! Each little greenhouse in the above picture was only $4.99! and they are from one of my favorite companies dunecraft! I could hardly wait to get these little ones going so I will post below the pictures as I started them!

Each of the little greenhouses came with the seed packets and this round pod, Just add about 1.2-2 cups of water and within just a few minutes you have beautiful planting soil. With a little stirring and mixing to ensure all pieces are broken up I planted each and everyone of them.
A new month is here and has been for a couple of days so I thought it was the right time to introduce the oil of the month. Peppermint! Not only does peppermint have a refreshing, cool, and minty smell it also has been known to help the body with respiratory problems, improve blood circulation, has a cooling effect for pain, fever, and hives, also can be rubbed on the temple and neck for headaches, stress, nausea, and dizziness( Using Essential Oils A Beginners Guide from www.shareOils.com) This month I will add other uses for peppermint and also some great DIY recipes using this great oil!
Here is an update on the doll, she is nearly finished. However, I am not too pleased with the eye lashes. She still has to get her bottom lashes on and could really use some more hair, but I was out so just dealing with what I have. Her outfit is compliments of my grandmother who is a huge Minnie Mouse fan! My grandmother is also the proud owner of another doll that I made! Who knows maybe she will like this one more?
A quick peek at the tomatoes they are looking a lot better and starting to stand up a little more, I think they are happy with their freedom! Hopefully they will start to become even more hardy! I have been busy looking up lots of great homesteading information and will share that with you soon!

So on the first day of March good old Wisconsin hands us a little blizzard! I have to admit it's pretty and for me I like it because this is the time of year when the snow is just dirty looking so this made everything nice and white again! Good thing I have my indoor gardens to keep my busy and boy did they ever keep my busy!

Happy to announce that the morning glories have been rescued from their captivity in the starter kit and moved to their very own little pots. Hopefully this will help them green up a bit and continue to grow so when spring finally does show up I will be able to plant them around my trellis.

In addition to the morning glories the tomatoes finally are moved, they were really starting to look a little sad. So again I hope this move gives them a little boost and they become strong and vibrant ready for the garden!

Well I can never leave a space open with nothing in it so I decided to throw in some radish seeds, just for fun. Just wanted to see if they will even pop up! If they do I think it would be pretty cool to have a fresh radish in a couple of weeks or more!

Had to give a little update on the other two wacky things I have going. As you can see in the above picture the crystals are starting to grow, how exciting! However, the picture below shows a lonely little terrarium with no budding cacti yet. I moved them both out to the "artificial sun" area so hopefully that will do them both a little more good, the last couple of days have been rather dreary so the need for fake sun is pretty high! Just a quick note on the doll, no picture today maybe tomorrow due to getting her lashes done!
Well the peas have been planted in their new home! I was able to find some old chicken wire, cut it to fit in the box and then carefully transplanted the peas in! Wow were they rooted! Those poor roots were screaming for a new home. So hopefully they will enjoy their new place and continue to grow!

I could not leave all that open space in the middle so I planted some carrots! Yep that's right I'm actually going to see if I can get some carrots to grow inside!! I also had some new sprouts coming up in the flower area!

You may have to really zoom in to see these little sprouts but they are there! At first I thought it was just the morning glories but on further inspection I spotted these little guys. So excited to see some more sprouts!

Tomorrow these poor tomatoes will be getting their new home! They are really looking pretty hardy so I think it is about time they get their individual spots so their roots can expand as well! I also had help to day from my son he planted his Carolina Reaper peppers and hopefully they will take off soon. He's a great gardener and the proud owner of his very own banana tree right here in WI! we have several little sprouts from his banana tree that we have replanted so now we can have more! Not only does he enjoy working with plants around the house, he loves the greenhouses and also took a class at his high school where he works in the school greenhouse as well. We just love growing things as a family! Hopefully you will follow the blog and see all the updates of our growing, and even some of our family fun trips!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16980550742380507540noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2356307041294124001.post-33535724966004808652017-02-27T10:44:00.002-08:002017-02-27T10:44:23.375-08:00

Just wanted to share with everyone that over the past weekend marked my one month blogiversary! I missed a couple of days last week due to the lovely chronic pain and back injury but hopefully healing is on its way or at least I feel like I can at least blog again! With that being said I decided to add a couple fun things to the blog. There are the usual updates and at the end you will see I decided to use some of the science experiments that I had from teaching and will show the progress as time goes by. Having a lot of my teaching things at home and knowing I can't be there with my students due to my injury does create a great deal of sadness for me so for now my bog will also be my teaching area! Have to make lemonade out of lemons!

I just could not help myself, I had to add another picture of these gorgeous pea pods! I really need to brainstorm on a way to keep them climbing as you can see the ones in the back are starting to lean. I can't wait to see how these progress once I figure out how to keep them climbing.
Look what else popped up over the weekend, my Morning Glories! I am a little concerned about them as they are not looking the healthiest it may be time to put them in some pots as well. However, I will need to buy some first because I need the kind that you can plant right in the ground. I have a perfect spot for these morning glories right in our front yard on a trellis below our kitchen window! Oh just the thought of getting outside again and planting makes me so happy!
Here is the first little experiment that I decided to do. This is a little micro terrarium that comes with everything you need to grow your very own cacti! How fun is that! So make sure you come back to see how this little cacti is doing.

Here is the last little experiment that I have! With this one we can grow our very own crystals! We love rocks around our house and many times go to different great lakes in search of agates and other great rocks and minerals. So when I saw this little kit I thought for sure my class would love it. However, I can't be there and I don't want to wait any longer so now all my followers can make sure to check back and see the progress of our growing crystal! Below are the steps it takes to grow your own crystal!
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "roboto" , "arial" , sans-serif;">I can not imagine having backyard chickens with out some Silkies! The silkie breed of chickens have fluffy plumage and are so soft to the touch, some say it even feels like satin or silk. Guess that's probably how they came up with their name.( Wikipedia ) We have had silkies in the past and they make for great pets, they do lay eggs, they are on the smaller side. They are just adorable and friendly!

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "roboto" , "arial" , sans-serif;">The other breed that we enjoy is the Cochin Chicken, a larger chicken than the silkie but what a friendly breed this flock can be, they love to follow you around the yard they produce eggs, and can become close to the owner again another good breed for a pet chicken. These are also the ones that take the dust baths and are such fun to watch!
Keeping chickens entertained seems simple enough but there are a lot of great ideas out there to help make your backyard into a fun and active place for your chickens. I found this image on Google Images and thought it was way to cute not to share.

Look at these pea pods! Lots to update you on. First as you can see from the above picture the pea pods are coming along great! However, the cucumbers did not take after the fur friend incident so I decided it was time to take action and start something else in that area.
Here is a peek at the new starting kit, I planted four rows of cucumbers, four rows of cantaloupe, and four rows of eggplant. We have never had much luck with melons so I am hoping by starting them inside we will have hearty little plants to put out this summer!
I also started some zinnias in hopes that they will be looking good around Mother's Day! Trying to think ahead a little bit here and stay on top of the growing! Searching for an idea to vine the pea pods with, if you have any you want to share feel free to leave suggestions in the comment section.

A quick update on the doll, still rooting hair and breaking needles, but I think she's getting close. Going to add a little more weight to her limbs and body; looking for her to weigh about seven pounds or so. The outfit that she is wearing now was one of my daughters so that is neat!

Gardening inside has its ups and downs, the down side is my fur friends. Sad to say I found this poor parsley pot in my German Shepherds kennel. I have since replanted seeds, but these are old seeds and not sure they will take off. I will give them a little bit to see what happens. Also Miss Molly had a stern warning to stay away from the plants. Hopefully this weekend we will be able to get some new seeds just in case these ones do not take off.
I am extremely blessed by my very talented sister! She has given me such a wonderful birthday gift. First she gave me three mirrors that will go lovely with my shabby chic look. She also gave me two books, one is about the stories behind Christmas songs Love it! The other is a daily devotional that you can color, Yes I am one of those adults that finds coloring so liberating probably due to the fact I lack all other talents in the crafty area! Then she made me the most adorable little bird cages with handmade birds in them! She is so awesome. If you have not followed her blog you should give it a try just simply click on the word blog above and that link should take you right to her very crafty page.
